Contiki’s “What’s Your Travel Spirit Animal?” Winner Shows Off His Swag

Johnathan Fain_UnicornLet’s all face it – we took the “What’s Your Travel Spirit Animal” Quiz and we all secretly wanted to be a Unicorn – in fact, many of us were!  The power of the unicorn was so great that it was easy enough for us to select a winner.

We followed up with Contiki Travel Spirit Animal winner Johnathan Fain, who won a fantastic unicorn shirt touting, “Contiki Says I’m a Winner (and a Unicorn).  Here is a photo of him wearing it proudly – we couldn’t be happier to see him share his Travel Spirit Animal with the world (raise your hand if you want that shirt!)

Whether you were a seahorse, unicorn, wolf, owl, or eagle, be proud of your Contiki Travel Spirit Animal and travel to the destinations that suit you best.

“What do you want to do before you die?”

That is the motto of The Buried Life, a foursome hailing from Victoria, Canada, that have spent the majority of their time embodying the Contiki spirit of #NOREGRETS and crossing items off a bucket list while helping others fulfill their dreams as well.  They have done everything from “Write a New York Times Bestseller” to “Play Basketball with President Obama” and now they have their sights set on finding a #5thMember of their crew to join them on Contiki’s Italian Espresso tour.

What’s the #5thMember Contest All About?

Millennials can share their stories through social media channels, giving them a chance to win an amazing trip to Italy with Jonnie Penn, Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood and Duncan Penn – The Buried Life.  These young celebrities will personally select one (1) lucky winner who will join them on Contiki’s Italian Espresso itinerary where they will enjoy Backstage Pass Exclusives such as a guided tour through a Tuscan winery and exploring the iconic cities of Rome, Florence, and Venice.

How Can I Enter?

You can submit three (3) online entries each on The Buried Life’s social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Share your stories and photos on why YOU want to be the 5th member and join The Buried Life – enter on The Buried Life’s Facebook page: http://bit.ly/1ldV6ue. Candidates will also need to include the hashtag: #5thMember. The Buried Life will review the most compelling submissions, personally select the one (1) winner and both brands will make the announcement on May 8th.

Escape “Light Pollution” – 5 Places to Stargaze in the World

circles of lightHappy International Astronomy Day!

For all you stargazers out there, our zest for exploration spans far beyond the far corners of the world – the night sky never ceases to amaze us as well.  While we tout the amazing cities to travel to, sometimes we want to venture far away from the “light pollution”.

Add a few of these items to your world travel bucket list or maybe include these places in your Vine video for Contiki’s #EmptyTheBucket campaign?  Either way, it’s time to start looking up when the sun goes down.

Griffith Park Observatory, Los Angeles

Despite overlooking a city known for light pollution, The Griffith Park observatory hosts free public star parties where you can gaze at the stars overhead while enjoying the picturesque California weather.

Lake Tekapo, New Zealand

Watch this time-lapse video of a stargazing tour at the Aoraki Mackenzie Dark Sky Reserve in New Zealand.

Death Valley National Park, California

Unlike The Griffith Observatory which is perched on a hilltop, you can enjoy expansive views of the night sky in Death Valley.  You can see both satellites and planets with the naked eye.

Lucerne, Switzerland

Lucerne offers some breathtaking views of the night sky from Lake Lucerne.

Tuscany, Italy

Home to one of the most famous astronomers of all time, it was in Tuscany where Galileo turned his eyes (and telescope) towards the sky and discovered the astronomical phenomena that we know today.

Tell us – what are some of your favorite places in the world to stargaze?
